WHAT IS Occupational Therapy?

An Occupational Therapist is a healthcare professional who aims to optimize a person's autonomy as it pertains to activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (iADLs), leisure activities and work, despite physical, social and/or architectural barriers that may limit one's ability to perform such activities.

ADLs: routine activities with respect to self-care, such as eating, bathing, dressing, toileting and transferring (walking).
